Collectibility Rating: A- A, B. If you have a vintage Gibson Les Paul Goldtop guitar for sale any year from the splease contact me at cfh provide. Hence the late to early Les Paul Standard Goldtop is regarded as a very usable and versatile guitar.
This was my first ever s Les Paul. I was there because at that time I was engaged to a young Floridian Miami model yes, I had good times. So every now and then, I visited guitar shops in the area.
There is very little wear on the instrument, with only some minor discolouration on the top where the arm rests, and some minor patina on the hardware. There are some very minor scrapes and bruises, 3 on the top near the bridge, and several on the sides of the guitar. All instruments are setup and professionally packaged prior to shipment.
The neck also has a 14 degree peghead pitch instead of 17 degrees, and Indian rosewood fingerboard instead of Brazilian. This existed on examples in the xx to xxx serial number range. Another strange feature of these first Goldtops is the strap button on the non-cutaway side is mounted too far away from the neck to be of any use. Other than that, goldtops look and are constructed just like LP goldtops except the weight of these guitars tends to be much heavier than the models.
All photos: Kerry Beyer. Today, these vintage gold bars are priced so high the average six-string Joe finds them inaccessible. Armored car heist?
This guitar, which was originally a two P equipped LP, has been faithfully modified to specs! The fretboard was shimmed long ago to achieve the proper neck angle for the stop tailpiece setup, original P routes were filled and re-routed for humbuckers, filled strap button hole at the base of the neck and the trapeze tailpiece screw holes were also filled. Recently re-fretted by Jeff Hope for excellent playability.
These beautifully crafted instruments are exceptionally well-made and will definitely stand out in any collection. With a maple top and sunburst finish, this truly is an elegant guitar. But Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards may be the one who truly made this guitar his own.

Its typical design features a solid mahogany body with a carved maple top and a single cutawaya mahogany set-in neck with a rosewood fretboard, two pickups with independent volume and tone controls, and a stoptail bridgealthough variants exist. The Les Paul was originally offered with a gold finish and two P pickups. Inhumbucking pickups were added, along with sunburst finishes in
The gold color overall is very strong without much fade at allthe top as you can see is really nice, many of these goldtops get that ugly horizontal heavy craze lines that go dark over time and spoil the look of the top, this guitars top looks really clean a bit of green and wear on the top edge but overall you can see it very nice, The two P pickups and all wiring rig components are all original including the waxy Grey Tiger capacitor. The plating on top of the tailpiece is still shiny and clean. The original Kluson Deluxe machines still work well and show no shrinkage to tuner buttons.
